Rohit Sharma declared fit to play against West Indies in last 2 T20Is: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who had suffered a back spasm during the third T20I against West Indies, has been given a green signal to play in the final two T20Is of the five-match series. He will be available for selection in Saturday and Sunday’s fixture against West Indies in Florida.

Hitman walked off the field midway through his innings in the third T20I against West Indies in Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. He looked in discomfort while batting and after a brief chat with the Indian physio, he decided to retire hurt and rest himself.

Soon after Rohit decided to break his innings on an unbeaten 11 off 5 deliveries, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement informing the fans that the Indian captain has suffered a back spasm and the medics are monitoring him.

“Yes, Rohit has recovered from his back spasm and is fit no,” said a BCCI source.

The last two T20Is between India and West Indies will go as per the schedule after all the concerned players have attained their US visas. Earlier, the fourth and fifth T20Is, that are scheduled in Florida, USA, were in jeopardy as several players had not received their travel documents.

However, the outstanding visas of the players were provided following the timely intervention of Guyana’s President, Irfan Ali.

The players who were yet to receive their travel documents were flown to Georgetown in Guyana after the completion of the third T20I in St Kitts. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were among 14 other Indians who headed to Georgetown for the interview at the US Embassy.

“He and coach Rahul Dravid will join coach in Miami after they had to go to Guyana with few other players for interview for the US visa,” added the source.

The fourth T20I between India and West Indies will be played on 6th August 2022 in the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida and the final T20I will be held on 7th August.

India are currently leading the series by 2-1.
